Introduction to High Brow

Hi Everyone!

We just wanted to welcome you all to the High Brow HQ website & tell you a little bit about ourselves. As this is our first Blog, we thought an introduction to who we are would be a fantastic place to start.

High Brow, formerly Cheshire Microblading was born in 2015 & specialises in all thing’s brow! From Microblading to Brow Lamination & even fully accredited courses – we wanted to create a safe environment for clients to come, feel relaxed & enjoy their treatment experience.

So – Who’s behind the mask at High Brow?

Firstly, we have our owner & founder Leisa Roberts. Leisa has been in the industry over 20 years & has a vast amount of knowledge across the beauty industry. From running her own businesses to customer facing roles & now even being the forefront of Microblading education, Leisa has done it all.

We thought we’d let you all into a little Q & A with Leisa & pick her brains about all things beauty & brows!

Questions & Answers

What motivated you to work in the beauty industry?

Having completed a pre-nursing course in 1990, followed by Beauty Therapy training in 1992, my passion for all things beauty, make-up and giving ladies confidence through the world of beauty was born. The buzz of seeing my fellow girls blossom from a freshly painted nail, make-over or facial became my absolute passion

Do you think the beauty industry in particular brows have evolved over the years? If so, how?

Absolutely! Trends change all the time and brows have gone from a slim line, to full powder effect and now to the birth of the ‘fluffy brow’ which is huge in the cosmetic and semi-permanent make-up/microblading world. As trends change, we always suggest that even though trends influence our tastes, its always important to have a style of brow that suits your face and that you are comfortable with wearing every day.

What has been the most challenging part of working in the industry over the last few years?

I would say that although it can be challenging, I always find it exciting and am grateful every day to work in our industry. I do however think that it’s important to keep up to date. Things change daily, with legislation, trends, products and techniques and although its important to be unique in your offering and always remain professional and put safety first, it’s so important to keep up to date with the changing times. Very much like the world of fashion, things change daily in our world and that’s one of the things for me that keeps it such a vibrant place to be.

How do you think the current situation has effected the industry as a whole? Do you think this will change the way you work going forward?

Gosh yes, sadly we have been one of the hardest hit business sectors, like the hospitality industry we have been closed now for 8 weeks and still have a way to go. We have seen a huge increase in the use of technology, Zoom, Live streams, online training and webinars have been amazing at allowing us to stay in touch with clients, students and colleagues. We have looked at everything internally too and how we adapt to the new ‘normal’ with extra clinical safety training/PPE/hygiene measures being put in place. And, ourselves and many other businesses are looking at what treatments we can offer to people at home as I think there will be an increase in home-based treatments and learning. Again, we find this all exciting .. in times like this the world has to adapt.
